8/12 1980 John Lennon was shot by 25-year-old Mark Chapman, outside his home in New York. Chapman had been stalking John for several days and was waiting at the gate when John and Yoko Ono came home from a day at the Record Plants Studio. Yoko went ahead and as John passed Chapman he was shot four times in the head
