8/6 1967 The Beatles album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band went to number one in the UK Albums Chart. The album cost £25,000 to produce and was recorded in over 700 hours of studio time. It was also the first album with the lyrics printed on the envelope. The album spent 27 weeks at number one on the chart.
