23/4 1991 Johnny Thunders (John Anthony Genzale Jr.) died of an overdose. He renamed himself Johnny Thunders, after a comic book of the same name, and in 1972 formed the highly influential New York Dolls, which only made two albums. In 1975, Johnny Thunders formed The Heartbreakers with New York Dolls drummer, Jerry Nolan, and Richard Hell, bassist from Television. After that, he became a solo artist.
